child-arrabbiata2The abandonment of sports activity in adolescence is unfortunately a very frequent problem in the growth of a young athlete.
The malaise is born perhaps as a joke or a joke, but hides a more profound disturbance. We must consider that the supporting element remains the motivation, which remains however and at every level the basis of any sporting success. The "desire" is undoubtedly the key through which the player nurtures her needs: interest and fun, the search for the feeling with the coach and the ability to team up with the teammates and not least the need affirmation and success in the sport that is practiced.
Young people love sports, especially as an opportunity for socializing and fun. if the sports club leaves gaps that cause dissatisfaction, the lack of time and the increasingly pressing school commitments, can encourage abandonment.
Some psychologists attribute the problem of abandonment to the defects of today's youth, which is too satisfied by the many interests, which would have a poor attitude to commit to something that costs fatigue and renunciation and does not pay immediately.
We would like sport to protect the adolescent from "distractions", but among the causes of abandonment we find the factors that we would like to avoid, such as consumerism and compliance with the modus operandi of the "group".
Sport, however, has its faults: often there is no escape from 'football', but '' from sport '' in its entirety; and the reasons may be due to the already seen difficulty in reconciling the study with the sporting activity, the misunderstandings with the coaches or managers or the distance of the sports facility from their home. In this context, sports clubs tend to start early to the competitive sport of young people, with selections and training that lead the "cut" to consider themselves out of the game, athletes who will never be particularly interested in future competitions.
In our sport in the last three years there has been a decline in enrollments in women's football clubs.
It is essential not to lose the athlete on the street, perhaps for a period of distrust linked to adolescence.
This phase produces an attitude of renunciation of any kind of sporting practice, since it is experienced by the young as bankruptcy and, consequently, as a source of insecurity.
This is why it is important for the adolescent to be assisted at this stage of her life, because she can easily make non-constructive choices before she reaches maturity.
How can women's soccer and Italian youth sport be renewed to respond to the new needs of adolescents, what kind of help could we offer to the family so as not to lose our unsatisfied player?
