One of the strongest and most prepared teams in the women's sector, if not the strongest ever: it's Olympique Lyonnais, the female Lyon, from the 2004 women's section of the men's club that militates in Ligue 1. The female Lyon is the champion of France uninterruptedly by 11 years: the first title of the series has arrived in the 2006 / 2007 season, while the first ever win of the championship dates back to 1991.

Next to the 15esimo championship, this season saw Lyon once again victorious in the French Cup, - 9 times in Lyon, the sixth in a row since 2012 - and it's more than fair to dream the third triplete in the history of the club. If in fact in the men's football to which we are accustomed the victory of the "triplet" (league, national cup and Champion's League) is unusual, the female Lyon seems to want to get used: already last season in fact has seen the French team get all three titles, winning the Champion's League in Italy, at Mapei Stadium, the 26 May 2016 against the frequent German rival in the European Wolfsburg field.

The French championship also this year gave the impression of giving a few surprises for what is up to the top of the standings: Lyon has collected - on 22 total games - 63 points, with 21 wins, no draw and 1 only defeat, against the women's PSG: defeat in the first round, 1 0, then avenged in the second round, winning at home for 3 0. Second in the standings, detached 8 points, is Montpellier, while only in third place is Paris Saint-Germain, future rival of the Champion's League final, which will be played in Cardiff next Thursday 1 June.

It will therefore be a Champion's destined to arrive in France, this season, whether in Lyon or Paris: the Parisian club's women's team has never obtained the much coveted European title, a cup so renowned as to have an echo that can also be perceived overseas. Star of this year, in fact, arrived in Lyon in the January market, is the American world champion Alex Morgan, who declared that he chose Lyon strong in its history and the immense possibilities for growth. And maybe, why not, also to savor the meaning of a Champion's League to be conquered.
