Painless defeat in the last game of group A for the azzurrine by Enrico Sbardella. Italy, already qualified, loses the unbeaten and is bypassed by Venezuela, and will meet in the quarters the first rankings of group B: Ghana who, although defeated by Canada, has collected one point more than the North Americans. You play at the stadium "Alejandro Morera Soto", which will not have the same glance of the "Nacional", a real talisman for the blue, but also makes a good impression in this competition worthy of the best spotlight.
Space to rotations in Italy, with Durante, Boattin, Bergamaschi, Rizza and Giugliano left to catch their breath; between the posts space in Toniolo, a captain's band on the arm of Marta Vergani. Also inside the debutants Tortelli and Garavelli, on the three-quarter keys entrusted to Abati.

The South Americans will only need a goal from Castellanos at the start of the second half to win the match, but Sbardella's team is still able to build opportunities on occasions. The greediest of the first time happens on the feet of Anna Maria Serturini, who concludes in precarious balance a few steps from the goal line committing the reflexes of Rodriguez. Another good chance for the young striker of Brescia follows, good to collect the assist of Tortelli, but less determined to hit the ball and climb over the South American defender. Simonetti tries his hand at the 29 'without a fortune. It also shows Venezuela, with Castellanos who breaks the blue monologue in the first half and leads Peressotti to save on the line.
The first action of the recovery marks the one to zero of the same Castellanos that exploits an uncertainty of the blue rear: the assist of Moreno overrides Vergani and companions and for the number nine of Venezuela bagging behind Toniolo is a breeze. Italy's response does not wait. At the tenth Federica Cavicchia, after a mess of the opposing defense on the corner, he finds himself between the feet of the draw ball, but does not hit the mirror of the goal. The pressing blue leaves no room for the South American counterattack: Garavelli also tries, with a left that gives the illusion of goal but hits the outside of the network, and Piedmont, looking for the first marking of the world competition. In the final game of the match is made to review Venezuela, with Toniolo that on two occasions prevents the two to zero signed by Garcìa.
Venezuela, with the owners already in charge of the victory with Zambia and Costa Rica, confirms itself as a good team, to be considered for the title. But Italy, widely restructured and yet very competitive, did not show any less: and for the greater number of occasions created, and for the game shown. But in football, and especially in the knockout rounds, at the end of the game counts throw it in: will serve a bit of cynicism and malice more in the night between Thursday and Friday, when the blue will challenge Ghana. For seconds, in fact, we will face the first of Group B, and not Canada. And, perhaps, it was better this way.
